Quality

Measuring equipment monitoring

With the introduction of the DIN EN ISO 9001:2008 and ISO/TS 16949 standards, monitoring of testing and measuring equipment took on a great importance within quality management systems.

To attain the level of product quality demanded, regular calibration is necessary to ensure that the measuring equipment verifiably generates measurement values within specified manufacturers’ tolerances at all times and with the required precision.

The German Federal Institute of Physics and Metrology (PTB) develops and maintains the “national standards”.

Accredited calibration laboratories (DAkkS/DKD) have the “reference standards” which are indirectly or directly connected to the national standards.

DAkkS - Deutsche Akkreditierungsstelle GmbH inspects the independent and impartial laboratories on a cyclic basis. These calibration laboratories have demonstrated their particular expertise through the accreditation process.

The central criterion for accreditation is the connection of all reference and in-house standards to the PTB’s national standards, and thus the SI units, according to a defined and externally assessed procedure.
